Yachiyo Town is located in the middle of the Kanto Plain, in the southwestern
part of Ibaraki Prefecture.
It is 60km from to Tokyo, 70km to the prefecture's
capital Mito, and
20km to Tsukuba also known as Science City.
Shimotsuma and Sekijo adjoin the town on the east
over the Kinu river,
Sanwa on the west, Yuki on the north, Chiyokawa, Ishige,
and Sashima on the south.
Route 125 runs along the central part of the town.

Yachiyo has a reputation for an area producing
melons and Chinese cabbages, since the land is flat and also
lot of rice known as ‘koshihikari’ is grown there.
40% of large rice field shares the agricultural products harvest
toｔal area in the town.
Moreover, the fertile Kawanishi area produces pears. Not only
farm products, but handmade natural distillation soy sauce
is produced in the town which
makes the most of the climate and water quality as well.
In addition, handmade dried soy beans, handmaｄe Japanese noodle
-udon- made from dried soy beans and so on, which have so
many flavors but with a simple home cooking taste.
